Comments:
Big Idea Group International approached WHY®Design to develop a speaker that would allow someone to unplug their headphones but still hear the music... for on the go.

Our first task was to research "Quality" components and discuss the technical aspects of all the items. We specifically researched the speaker systems. Our goal was to develop the smallest possible portable sound system while not loosing acoustics and sound quality.

We had to compromise. We compromised the size...due to a request from the consumer not to compromise the quality of sound. Therefore we increased the size to allow for a slightly larger speaker system...which guaranteed quality sound.

Lastly, they requested length of play to be at least 8 hours. The average play time for kids and young adults was 6 plus hours. We had to increase the battery space to allow for 2 AA batteries for extended play.

It is difficult to do truly innovative design. But as we have found innovation is a combination of client support, client requests along with the consumers expectations, and of course thinking out of the box as well as being afraid to fail.
