ART DIRECTOR
Why® Design is an internationally recognized design firm located in the historic section of Federal Hill in Providence, RI, USA. We have been creating winning toy, sport and food packaging and product designs for over 16 years. The recent opening of two satellite offices overseas has WHY® Design poised to become a force in the industry. We need a seasoned, hands on, team oriented Art Director to help us get there and beyond.
Job Description:
Manage up to 12 graphic designers. Creative Direction from Owner/Creative Director. Report directly to Vice President of Strategic Development. Must have a proven record of creating, directing and executing the complete packaging exercise. Must be highly organized and enjoy juggling multiple deadlines and quick turn around times.
Responsibilities:
Must remain current with Mac based industry software programs. Biweekly industry research a must. Instill a team effort. A superior work ethic, computer knowledge and experience in consistently creating winning designs on time are the only way you will earn the respect of this seasoned design staff.
Requirements:
BFA or equivalent. Must have at least three years experience leading and managing experienced designers. Four years of packaging experience necessary. Toy, sport, food or product packaging experience preferred. Speed is second only to creativity. Salary is commensurate with experience. Travel may be required to Hong Kong and Mainland China. GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Job Description:
Creative, experienced, and fast. You must be fluent in your Mac based knowledge of, Illustrator, Photoshop, Freehand, and web design software. Ability to illustrate is important. Packaging design experience in the toy, sport and food industries is important.
Salary is commensurate with experience.

PRODUCT DESIGNER
We have an immediate opening for an entry level Product Designer. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree in Industrial Design, with a minimum one year experience. You must be comfortable working alone or with the group and be fast & efficient: This job requires a high level of communication/cooperation. Primary design work is for sport, leisure, toys & children's products.
Design Skills - Strong visualization, conceptualization, ideation, illustration, sketching, drawing, rendering, prototyping, molding, plastic casting, model building, marker, photography skills. A good understanding of materials and processes is important.
Computer Skills - Develop concepts from sketch to 3D using FormZ, ProE, Solidworks, Maya, Vellum, etc. Also helpful to have graphic design ability: illustration, layout, graphic application using Illustrator, Freehand, Photoshop.
Presentation Skills - Powerpoint or equivalent. You must be able to present your ideas verbally and graphically.

GRAPHIC DESIGN MANAGER
WHY® Design, Ltd. Hong Kong is seeking a Graphic Designer with management skills who is able to speak both English and Mandarin and Cantonese. Minimum of 5 years graphic design experience. U.S. Consumer buying knowledge and experience is a plus.
Candidate must have a full understanding of Marketing, Selling and Distributing in the U.S. Market as well as toy, sport, inflatable and packaging design.
Candidate must have extensive Macintosh OSX computer experience with the following English versions of software; Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, Quark, Indesign, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Font Reserve, Toast, Outlook, Explorer, iChat, and others.
Candidate must have experience in Photographic, Printing and Prepress and processes and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (BFA).
